Stealing From Earth
Stealing From Earth is outside of this exhibition and is part of the series created after the residency Art in the Park by Parks Canada and nominated in CTBC Foundation Painting Prize. Developed through time spent in nature, the series draws from the quiet intensity of the forest through stillness and movement, dimmed light to layered sunshine. The audio is built from field recordings made at waterfalls, where an unnoticeable, swirling sound beneath the water became an unplanned anchor for the paintings.
Rather than treating the environment as backdrop, the work considers it as a subtle yet active system. Shifting the focus from the mere narrative of human connection to nature to a moment when awareness alone is no longer sufficient.
