Taroko

Taroko draws from a childhood photograph taken at Taroko National Park, a classic destination for family outings in Taiwan. The contrast between darkened background and illuminated subject echoes the experience of moving through a tunnel. An image of tunnel vision that often accompanies rupture and low moments, when time feels suspended and movement leads nowhere. Does subject matter mean suspended memory, or the light at the end of a tunnel?

Bubble wrap presence suggests distance rather than loss. As its fragile barrier recedes, what is revealed is not something newly found, but something that has been there all along.
